I know the date of the transfer of air from analog to digital is February 17, 2009. I've heard there will be a transition from analogue to digital cable and satellite in 2011. Is that true?

Yes, most cables are in the fight against the FCC, because they want to speed the transition, but the goal in 2011 is today. If cable companies do before a field for each non-need digital TV is connected to cable. Verizon Fios is an exception to the rule and now Boxing (give away free bound) for his "customers with televisions to a table. I assume that cable companies will do the same exemptions.
No. Cable companies are not required to go digital service. The cable can do for their service all or partly digital, but are not required to switch from analog service they offer today. Thus, the FCC cable companies continue to see the local stations in analog and thereby provide analog service, even after February 17, 2009.

I think it only applies to cable companies ... the satellite is already digital and digital to Day 1
