Di 300 Tutima Review Sigma 28-300mm F/3.5-6.3 Or Quantaray 70-300 Mm DI F/4-5.6 Or Something Else Within $300 Range?

Sigma 28-300mm f/3.5-6.3 or Quantaray 70-300 mm DI f/4-5.6 or something else within $300 range? - di 300 tutima review

I want a zoom. Canon EF mount. I was looking for a little more expensive than my bank statement came ....:)
I heard people have good experiences with the Sigma. Obviously the price is a good buy.

The Quantaray is a good price! Ritz Lens ($ 150), some people like it, some think it's hogwash. Very soon will be a doorstop.

Any opinions?
Other proposals for approximately $ 300 Zoom?
The use of glass will be relaxed for the most part, but I do not want to, & $! Objective, even when shooting for fun.

Sigma? Yes Quantaray? No

To see Tamron. F3.5/6.3 its AF28-300mm XR Di VC LD Aspherical [IF] compensation of vibrations, IMO, is an important need in a lens with this focal length range. To http://www.shutterbug.com and enter "Tamron AF28-300" in the search field and submit to draw a test report, in April 2008. The more than $ 300, but I think a much better choice.

One aim of this focal length, IMO, stabilization built

The problem I see with the Sigma is slowly - very slowly. Lose 1 2 / 3 stops throughout the zoom range when shooting wide open, you can be a photo opportunity unless you can compensate for missing increase the ISO, since it has no image stabilization .. To the corresponding shutter speed will be maintained by f3.5 to f6.3 require an increase of 2 stop at ISO. So if you're shooting at ISO 200 and the need for the shutter speed as they are 300 mm in 28 mm, start at ISO 800 *. We shoot all know that the image quality suffers more ISO.

The Tamron is asslowly, but the vibration, you can easily hire other hand, without increasing the ISO fire.

Bottom line? IMO you should put a little more and buy the Tamron. I really think you will quickly dissatisfied with the Sigma and will end up selling at a loss and then for the saving of Tamron.

* Assuming that you have to shoot wide open, you will be 28 mm and the shutter speed is 1 / 250 sec. Zoom to 300 mm and the speed of ~ 1 / 60 sec reduced. (OK, it's by 2 points and the target loses only 1 2 / 3 stops, but you get the idea.)
